Impressive first victory of Augusto Fernández in Assen

The Spanish rider of the FlexBox HP 40 goes back and achieves a resounding victory in Holland; Baldassarri goes to the ground on the last lap when he fought for victory too.

Great racing Sunday for the FlexBox HP 40 in Assen, with a bittersweet finish.

After the complicated timed day of yesterday, in which Fernandez and Baldassarri left from the thirteenth and sixteenth position, respectively, today both have achieved a great comeback but with a different end for both drivers.

The pupils of Sito Pons have gone very well and already from the first moment they have traced several positions. As the race progressed, both continued to climb positions to reach the front group, at which time Fernandez has taken control of the race. A group of six pilots were alternating the first positions, until in the last lap Baldassarri was placed first, and shortly after it has gone to the ground without being able to avoid the fall. A pity after the great comeback he had done. It was at that moment when Fernandez returned to lead the race and has not left the first position until crossing the finish line. It is the first World Cup victory of the Spanish rider, and he achieves it after climbing thirteen positions. A great job for him and his team.

The FlexBox HP 40 does not rest and next week will return to action with the dispute of the German Grand Prix.

Augusto Fernández, 1st
"Today has been incredible. Going from so far back is always more complicated but it’s a more interesting race.  In the morning in the warm up we already knew that we had rhythm to be ahead. The key has been the first laps and try to overcome the maximum positions. Once I reached the front group I saw that I could not break the group so I knew it would be a fun endgame. Finally I got the victory and it's amazing, I'm very happy. A year ago we worked together with the team and being in front is already the result of the good work we are doing and we must continue. Thanks to the team again and the sponsors. "

Lorenzo Baldassarri, fall.
"Today was a pity for me and for the team, really. But at the same time I'm happy for Augusto, who has won his first victory and I want to congratulate him. How much my race has been a shame. We had a good pace and I was managing the race well but I made a small mistake that took me to the ground without being able to avoid it. We must turn the page now and think about the next race and arrive with much desire ".
